The Splitting of the Sea: A Divine Intervention
☪️ Daily Light The Splitting of the Sea: A Divine Intervention In approximately the 13th Century BCE, the Children of Israel, living in bondage in Egypt, faced immense oppression under Pharaoh. Their deliverance came through the prophet Moses, peace be upon him, culminating in one of the most dramatic events recorded in religious history: the splitting of the Red Sea. ✦ The initial command to leave Egypt was a direct divine instruction to Moses and his brother Aaron, as detailed in the Qur'an: "Go forth, you and your brother, with My signs, and do not slacken in My remembrance." ﴿20:42﴾ Pharaoh's arrogance and refusal to release the Israelites led to a series of plagues upon Egypt. ✦ The pursuit of the Israelites by Pharaoh and his army intensified as they neared the sea. The Israelites, seeing the vast waters before them and Pharaoh's forces behind, despaired. This moment of extreme anxiety is captured in the Qur'an: "And when the two hosts sighted each other, the companions of Moses said, 'Indeed, we are overtaken!'" ﴿26:61﴾ ✦ Moses, however, remained steadfast in his faith, proclaiming, "No! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me." ﴿26:62﴾ Then, divine intervention manifested. God commanded Moses to strike the sea with his staff. "So We inspired to Moses, 'Strike with your staff the sea,' and it parted, and each portion was like a towering mountain." ﴿26:63﴾ ✦ The sea parted, creating a dry path through its depths, allowing the Children of Israel to cross to safety. As soon as they had reached the other side, Pharaoh and his army, in their relentless pursuit, entered the opened path. At this point, the waters collapsed upon them, drowning Pharaoh and his entire host. "Then We drowned the others." ﴿26:66﴾ ✦ This miracle at the Red Sea, near the Sinai Peninsula, served as a profound demonstration of God's power and His commitment to His covenant with His chosen people, rescuing the oppressed and punishing the oppressors, a timeless lesson for all humanity. #DailyLight #Quran #Prophets #Peace
